A paycheck as a picture

Updated

The Earnings Breakdown diagram draws one person's pay for one period as a flow, from where the money came from on the left to the total on the right.

Where to find it

Nothing opens the diagram. It is part of the Payouts page, directly under the header, with the title Earnings Breakdown.

1
Open Payouts from the menu.
2
Click the name in the header and pick a person. A Basic member sees only their own.
3
Use the arrows beside the name to change the period. The diagram redraws each time.

When a person has nothing payable in the period, the card says so in a sentence and draws no diagram.

Read it left to right

  • On the left are the sources. There is one bar for each product line that paid base commission, then one for each bonus under its own name, then any activity bonuses. Each carries its name and amount. Within each group the largest is at the top.
  • In the middle are the kinds of pay: Base commission, Bonuses and Activity. Every product line flows into Base commission, every bonus into Bonuses, and every activity bonus into Activity. A kind with no money in it is not drawn.
  • On the right is the paycheck: Total Commission, with the period's total in green.

A thicker band carries more money. Product lines use the colours of your chart theme, so they match the rest of the app.

With a long list of bonuses, the smallest are grouped into one bar, for example +3 more, and a note under the diagram says so. Each is still listed in the bonus table below.

What the hover shows

Hover over any bar or band for its figures.

  • A product line shows its amount, split into this period's sales and any earlier month's.
  • A bonus shows its name, amount and share of the total.
  • Base commission, Bonuses or Activity shows the amount, its share of the total and the sources inside it.
  • Total Commission shows the kinds added together.

Click a product line on the left and Commission Detail, further down the page, narrows to that line. A Showing: pill appears above the table with an x to clear it.

With and without carried money

Money is carried when it was earned in an earlier month and pays in this one, most often a sale written last month that issued this month.

Without any, each product line's bar is this period's sales only, and no bonus has a month beside its name.

With it, the diagram does not add a separate lane. The money stays in the kind it belongs to.

  • Carried base commission is added to its product line's bar. Hover the bar to see the split: one line for October sales and one for September sales, issued in October. Hover Base commission for the same split across all lines, such as From September (2 sales).
  • A bonus earned in an earlier month keeps its own name, with a small month tag such as Sep beside it. Its hover reads Earned in September, pays now.

The Base Commission row of the bonus table says the same thing in words, with a line like $981.50 October · $87.75 carried from September (2 sales). Those amounts are only an example.

Sales that are still waiting to issue are not in the diagram. They are listed under Waiting to issue in the bonus table.

After a Pay Team run

Once a period has a run, the Total Commission bar splits into slices: one for each run, named Paid and the day, and Accruing for what has been earned since if the period is still open. Hover a slice for its amount.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there no diagram for this person?

Nothing is payable for them in that period. The card says why, for example that their sales are written and still waiting to issue, or that no commission plan is assigned.

Does the total include sales that have not issued?

No. If your office pays when sales issue, the diagram holds only money that is payable in the period. Written sales that have not issued sit under Waiting to issue.

What does the month beside a bonus mean?

The bonus was earned in that month and pays in the period on screen. Its hover says so.

Can I see the whole office in one diagram?

No. The diagram is always one person for one period. The owner switches people from the name in the header.
