How pay works in Agency Edge
Updated
Agency Edge works out each person's commission from your commission plans and your sales, shows it on the Payouts page, and records it as paid when you run Pay Team.
The flow, start to finish
A plan pays a base rate on each product line, either a percent of the premium or a flat amount per policy, and you can add bonuses on top.
When the money lands is an office setting. With When Sales Issue, nothing pays until the policy issues. With Same Period Earned, everything pays in the month it was written, issued or not.
What the owner sees on Payouts
Open Payouts from the menu. The page shows one person for one pay period, in four parts.
- The header. The person's name and the period sit between two arrows that step one period back or forward. Under the name is where the period stands: Current, Paid or Ended · not paid yet. Click the name for the picker: a month grid, Custom Date Range, and everyone on the team with their amount for that period and ✓ Paid or Unpaid beside it. The large figure is labelled Accruing while the period is open, Earned once it has ended unpaid, and Paid with the run's day after that. On the right are Plan, Analytics and Pay Team, which shrink to icons on a narrow window.
- Earnings Breakdown is a diagram of where the total came from. See A paycheck as a picture.
- The bonus table has three columns, Bonus, Where you are and Amount, in up to three bands. Next paycheck pays on the next Pay Team run. Waiting to issue is earned on written sales and pays as they issue. Bonus progress lists bonuses not earned yet and shows no amounts. The first row is Base Commission, and each bonus has its own row. Details → on a row opens the math and the sales behind it.
- Commission Detail lists every sale that pays in this period, grouped by product line, with its premium, rate and what it earned.
If your office closes a period with When I run Pay Team, the picker lists those periods by their dates in place of the month grid.
What a Basic member sees
A Basic member who opens Payouts gets the same page for one person: themselves. The name and period are a label, not a menu, so no one else is listed. The two arrows still step through periods. The large figure, the diagram, the bonus table and Commission Detail are all their own. There is no Pay Team button.
What the numbers mean
- Accruing is commission on policies that have issued since the last Pay Team run. It is paid out when you run Pay Team.
- Earned means the period has closed and this commission, on policies that have issued, is ready to pay.
- Paid means Pay Team has run for the period and these commissions were paid out.
- Waiting to issue is counted in none of those figures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a sale I wrote this month not in my total?
If your office pays when sales issue, a written sale sits under Waiting to issue until it issues. It moves into Commission Detail the day it issues, in the period it issues in.
Can a Basic member see what other people earn?
No. On Payouts a Basic member sees only their own pay. The picker that lists the team is not offered to them.
What if someone has no commission plan?
The Plan button reads No plan, and the page says that no commission plan is assigned for the period, so nothing is accruing. Assign one in Settings, on the Payouts tab.
Can I look at more than one month at once?
The owner can. Click the name in the header, choose Custom Date Range, pick the two dates and press Apply. Clear in the header goes back to the current month.
