Record a sale
Updated
Record a Sale in the top bar opens a window for entering one customer's policies by hand, without uploading a file.

The fields, in order
A red star marks a required field. Four are always required: Written By, Written Date, Product and Written Premium. Your office chooses the rest in Sale Config. The list below shows how a new office starts.
At the top:
- Written By — who sold it.
Under Customer:
- First Name and Last Name — required. An office can make one of them optional, but a sale always needs at least one name.
- Zip Code — required. Five digits. The city and state appear under the box once it is recognised.
- Written Date — always required. It opens on today's date.
- Source Type — required. Where the customer came from, picked from your office's list of sources.
- Any fields your office added for the customer.
Under Policies, one block for each product sold:
- Product — always required. The list is the product lines your office has switched on.
- Policy Type — required. The choices depend on the product, so pick the product first.
- Business Type — required. One answer covers every policy on the sale.
- Written Premium — required and more than 0, unless the product is marked as needing no premium. The label adds the term in brackets, such as 6 Months, and the monthly amount shows under the box.
- Any fields your office added for each policy.
- Notes — optional.
There is no issue date in this window. A sale recorded here is saved without one.
Who the sale is written by
The owner picks anyone who is Employed from the Written By list.
A Basic member fills in every other field, but Written By shows their own name and cannot be changed. The same goes for a Custom member. If a login is not linked to a team member, the save is refused and the owner has to record the sale.
What happens when you save
The window confirms how many sales were recorded and for whom. Each policy is saved as its own sale. Press Record Another Sale to enter the next customer, or Done to close.
- Sales — the sale is in the Sales Log, which refreshes on its own if it is open. It reads Pending until it is marked issued.
- Home and the other pages count the sale the next time they load. Leaderboards are refreshed in the background shortly after.
- Payouts — the sale is an input to pay, and Payouts takes it into account the next time it works out pay. When the sale is paid depends on your office's pay settings; see How pay works.
- Leads — saving by hand does not run lead matching on the spot. Matching runs when a sales file is uploaded, and on a schedule in the background for offices with unmatched leads, so the sale can be matched to its lead later. You can also link the two yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a team member record a sale for someone else?
No. Only the owner can choose another name under Written By. Everyone else's sales are saved under their own name.
How do I add the issue date?
Open the sale in the Sales Log and press Issue. The owner can do this for any sale, and a team member for a sale they wrote.
What if the customer bought three policies?
Record them together. Press Add Another Product for each extra policy. The customer, written date and source are entered once and apply to all of them.
Why won't the window save?
A required field is empty, or a value is not valid. The window outlines each one in red and says why, for example Required, Enter a 5-digit ZIP or Must be greater than 0.
