Edit or delete a sale
Updated
Any sale in your log can be corrected or removed from the Sales Log, one at a time or several at once.
Who can change a sale
Only the office owner can edit or delete sales. The owner's Sales Log has a tick box at the start of each row and an Actions column at the end. Basic and Custom members see the sales without either, whatever pages a Custom member has been given.
A member can still report on a sale they wrote: its Pending status opens a window where they mark it issued.
Edit a sale
The window holds Policy Name, Written By, Product, Policy Type, Written Date, Written Premium, Zip Code, Source, Business Type and Notes, plus any fields your office added under Sale Form Fields in Settings. A field your office requires cannot be left blank, and a zip code must be five digits.
The strip above the fields shows where the sale stands and holds the buttons that move it on, such as Issue, Will Not Issue and Chargeback. Chargebacks and carryovers explains what a chargeback does.
Change several sales at once
Tick the rows you want, or the box in the header for the whole page. A bar appears with the number selected. Under Choose field... pick one field (Source, Product, Written By, Biz Type, Policy Type, Premium, Issue Date or ZIP Code), set the new value, and press Apply. A Confirm Bulk Edit window repeats the change before you press Confirm. Clear drops the selection.
Delete a sale
Open the sale's Edit Sale window and press Delete Sale. The window asks Delete this sale? and names the customer and the written date. Press Yes, Delete Sale.
To delete several, tick their rows, press Delete Selected, then Yes, Delete.
A delete is permanent. The sale leaves your log, and any link it had to an internet lead goes with it. There is no undo.
When the sale has already been paid
A Pay Team run locks each sale it pays. From then on:
- The row turns grey and its pencil carries a small lock. The window opens as Locked Sale, with its fields greyed out and no Delete Sale button.
- A change to several sales skips it, and Delete Selected stays off while a paid sale is in the selection.
- You can still record a chargeback on it with Chargeback.
To correct a paid sale, undo that person's run in the Pay Team window on Payouts, make the change, then run pay again. Run a pay period has the steps.
A sale that has not been paid is free to change. After each edit or delete, pay is worked out again from the sales log, so the next run uses the corrected sale.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we get a deleted sale back?
No. Deleting is permanent. Enter it again with Record a Sale, or upload the file that holds it.
Why does a sale's pencil have a lock on it?
The sale was paid in a Pay Team run. What was paid cannot be edited or deleted until that run is undone.
Can our office manager edit sales?
Not today. Editing and deleting belong to the owner alone, even for a Custom member with every page ticked.
We corrected a premium in our spreadsheet. Should we upload it again?
No. The premium is one of the things Agency Edge uses to recognize a sale, so the corrected row would come in as a second sale. Change Written Premium in the Edit Sale window instead.
